Deep See was founded in May 2000 by EMan and Lola. Deep See is currently housed at Sapphire Bar & Lounge on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Every Tuesday, EMan and Lola present a mix of deep and tribal house, broken beat, and abstract sounds informed by Detroit, Chicago, London, New York, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Kerri Chandler, Danny Tenaglia, Armand Van Helden, St. Germaine, Bugz in the Attic, jazz, dub, 80s electronic music, film soundtracks, African and Latin rhythmic elements, and all musical traditions and tones that lie comfortably left of center.

Deep See is an intimate, underground event. The vibes are reminiscent of a time in New York when clubbing was about freedom of the mind and soul, about meeting up with like-minded creative seekers, about stretching the boundaries of your perception, imagination, and experience. It is our goal to keep the spirit of the underground alive by providing a home for dancers, DJs, music lovers, and people of all stripes to join us in a weekly exploration of music, movement, and the alchemy that can occur when certain elements comingle.

Deep See is so named because we look deeply into the eyes of the future while remembering our immediate and distant past yet realizing that at any given time, we are but reflections of the present.
